Options
Hi Folks. I got an e mail from a debt collecting company because I had not paid a bill for a ppi payout I am supposed to receive from HSBC. HSBC have not paid this payout hence I have not paid Allay. Tried phoning Allay but the department has closed. Debt company have put my case on hold for 35 days but I still doubt if HSBC will pay up and I don't want to do Allays job. Advice please

Put a formal complaint into Allay ASAP as they’re close to giving up their FCA authorisation and it’ll be a lot harder to get a positive outcome once they’re no longer authorised.

have HSBC not paid you because of delays on their end or because they’ve rejected/defended your complaint? If it’s the former, when did you send off your acceptance letter? Did they give you a timescale for payment when you were sent an offer letter?

Have Allay sent you an invoice? What are they charging you for exactly? A breakdown of their charges will make it a bit easier to point you in the right direction.

re ‘doing Allay’s Job’, whether they’d sent you a demand or not, unfortunately ‘their job’ ended at putting a stamp on the letter they sent for you. The rest, including chasing up the lender for payment or more information, is your job. This is one of the mountains of reasons why people were advised for years to pursue complaints themselves - less paperwork, less aggro, same outcome, more money in your back pocket (if your complaint was successful).

    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)
