You did receive feedback. The other candidate has more experience in some areas and that it why they got the job.

Following an interview, I always expect and usually receive some response, even if negative. Feedback can be harder as it is often nothing specific if you were unsuccessful.
In this case, by saying "no feedback on your performance" I would take that as you did totally OK, no reason you could not have done the job but they had two equally capable candidates and had to choose one so chose the candidate with more experience in area "A". It could very well have been little more than a coin-toss at the end and, if it fell your way, then the other candidate would have been told they lost out to someone with more experience in area "B".
Don't beat yourself up, but take that as a positive and go forwards to the next opportunity with confidence
