Are AVRO a bunch of crooks or just incompetent?

I am owed over £200 from Avro after moving my account and leaving a credit balance. Part of it is a monthly fee they took AFTER I moved the account. They have not responded to several emails and their operators are always "Fully occupied" so I need to "call back later".
Any suggestions?

Ofgem allows a total of eight weeks (six weeks for the final bill, two more weeks for the refund) so it's probably just a case of watching the clock.

Wolsty, oh, try reading the feedback threads about Avro on here.  Your experience is typical, it seems. To answer your question, I am in still in two minds though I know they are incompetent to a criminal degree...

Avro used to be very cheap and very good, but something has obviously gone very wrong recently.

Presumably they got their sums seriously wrong and the resultant cashflow problems mean that they can't afford to fund customer service properly.

Times are hard and energy costs are rising so it's unlikely that many companies will choose to pay refunds before the date when they are required to do so.

I will have to take your word for that, Gerry1.

I have been with them for literally one year and a few days; the only reason I did not switch was price, for all it has increased by an obscene amount... Actually, there was another reason and that is that all the other companies, including the big ones, whichever they are now, seem to have the same level of customer service so really, why pay more?

I suspect it was when some of BGs big fixes ended earlier this year, many went over to Avro who were cheapest at that time -- perhaps too many for Avro to handle, as that is when their prices suddenly went through the roof and CS issues appeared to worsen
