Hi all
I got married last week. I completely forgot what the registrars told me about the register (is it online only? Can it be accessed by me? When will my marriage be visible?).

I know my wife has ordered a physical copy (Do these usually take a long time?). She wants to change her name on our documentation. Any advice gratefully received.
Many thanks

I still haven't done driving licence, but when I enquired it was very straightforward too.
I don't have a marriage licence, never needed one, we were suppose to get one on the day but they forgot to leave it and we just never popped in to collect it.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

Many thanksWe were given a physical copy on the day (I think we had to hang around for a few minutes after the marriage while they wrote it up) and then got a couple more that we'd ordered in the post a few days later. You (and any one else) can order additional copies at any time - initially you'll have to do it through the local registrar, but after a few months the details reach the General Register Office and you can order them online from there.

We got married few weeks ago and they do not give you any physical copies on the day anymore, process has changed from May 2021. They said everything now has moved online. You can order physical copies if you wish, which we did. We got married on Friday and received copies in the post on Monday (which we thought was super quick). I would have thought your copy should arrive soon too.
Re changing name, in most places (such as banks, driving licence (DVLA), passport) they require original copy of the marriage certificate. DVLA - I had to send it in the post as well as D1 form and the old licence. Banks, mine required me to go in person with the original marriage certificate, only then they would change the name. Other companies, are quite happy with just an electronic copy. So it very much depends on the company and what their process is. Hope this helps.0 -
My daughter got married on Saturday and was told she wouldn't get anything for about a week.0
