Morning, very late in this week. No excuses, just lazy.
Sorry to hear that so many of you are struggling. Help yourselves to sticks & spoons (and of course coffee)
I need to get on with sorting junk out of this house and CLEANING it, we want to get estate agents round to value it and tell us what is worth and not worth doing to it to sell it. But at the moment I won't let anyone into certain parts. Main living areas are ok but there are parts, particularly the outbuildings and spare room/house (it is a barn converted into a party room with a large dormitory above it). And the garden is a jungle with a patch of mown lawn in the middle of it. Sorry to moan just sitting here looking at it on yet another grey damp day isn't helping. There is no excuse as OH is happy to help if I start, I also only work 2 days a week, weekends are often very busy as we have another house where we eventually go and live once this is sold.
Better go and at least do something, anything10 -
It sounds like you are overwhelmed at the thought of sorting your whole "estate", Mademoiselle. Perhaps take the "eat an elephant" approach - one bite at a time? or dot-to-dotting in one area, and move onto the next only when that one is acceptable. It might even be worth getting in a gardener (or your DH!) to tidy up ??? But "rustic charm" is a good selling point too!
Breakfast eaten.
One admin problem solved.9 -
Thanks for your thoughts Ionafan, I know dot to dot works, and we are going down that route but it just seems to be taking so long, and to be fair we underestimated how much time and mental effort has been required in getting both DDs through this last year of studies.

Lots of potential at your estate, Mademoiselle. Can you have a break before you embark on that new project? Sometimes all we need is a week of not committing to anything to feel more inclined to crack on.GI - your hair looks gorgeous. I bet it feels better on hot days - if you have any yet. Today it's hot here, after a week of drizzle and grey. WM x 2 as a result so far, another couple at least to go as soon as I have line space.Huge (((hugs))) for Dancemum, ASB and Valli and *peaceful sleep* vibes for all the members of the WAC.*Healing vibes* for your bite, Piggers. After your horrible experience I dabbed my troublesome one that had ballooned my wrist with TCP and started on the non-drowsy antihistamines. It's still recovering where I scratched it because it drove me so mad but thanks to your comments it didn't get any worse. It never occurred to me that bites would be this problematic as I got older because living in Malaysia as a child I was perpetually covered in mosquito bites and just got one with it. Apparently no more.Ionafan, I'm sure you love your friend, but with energy leeches I took the decision years ago that they wouldn't be invited here at the house for lunch, or even coffee, any more as I couldn't get away from them when they exhausted me, which they always did. I'm always willing to go and meet them somewhere it suits me for coffee or whatever, and then when I've given as much as I can I trot off and do whatever errand I've lined up. I've been doing that for about 15 years and it's transformed those relationships.I've been singing Christmas carols when no-one's around because those are the only songs I can get my head around, particularly when I'm driving. (I hum at the traffic lights so the people in the other cars don't have any reason to think I've gone slightly loopy it being June and all.) There are a lot of songs that fill me with huge energy but, honestly, could you sing Tiger Feet on your own without the music? I have Wig Wam Bam as an earworm by the way, so thanks for that!Yesterday morning I pulled the overlocker off the shelf and made myself try to use it. I'm getting very proficient at re-threading it, and learning about tension. I daren't try to make anything yet but at least I've managed to learn something about using it. Thank goodness for YouTube. What I really wanted to make was mitts out of microfibre cloths because the dusting ones work so well but that idea didn't work at all first time around - the stuff frays like bu**ery and I can't make the shape I want. Second attempt at some indefinable point in the future.I was out and about in the afternoon and dropped in to Morribunds on the way home to get something in particular which they didn't have in stock. I just happened to wander by the fruit and veg and the MOUNTAIN of stuff that had been YS'd was enormous so I ended up with a trolley full of it. Apparently it was because Eng...er...land kicked off while I was there - it was deserted. I've now got 16 boxes of apricots at 20p a box to make into more jam today, which wasn't what today had been ear-marked for but ... apricot jam.Better is good enough.8

Shotgun by George Esra ~ if he is free he can pop round and sing to us!Mademoiselle ~ what is important to buyers in your country? and concentrate on those areas, I would leave the 'meadow' as wild garden, I would also leave the party barn, called it a working studio or similar. Make sure the rest is tidy. good luck I wish I was nearer to help you.Ironing doneVolunteering gardening done as OH can be left for a while and I am happy with that.Kitchen clean and sorted.General admin stuff sort of done, end of month budget to be checked and next months set.

Good afternoon 😁
I am feeling smug - 2 babies asleep at the same time! And the 4 yr old is busy with play dough. I am having a hot cuppa 😁
WM x2 done, 1 dry in TD. I need to empty that & refill. Very wet and grey here today! I have walked grumpy dog & put on the DW. I have also done a few admin tasks - sent out invoices, emailed details to holiday let for next week & messaged back & forth to the oarent of a new child that wants holiday care.
Mademoiselle I feel your pain! We need to empty our bedroom to get it replastered, redecorated & new carpet. There is so much stuff, and I am feeling a bit overwhelmed 😕 I need a week to just do that, but there is always so much other stuff that gets in the way! (including work! 🤦♀️)
HB thanks for the comments re my hair. And no, I haven't been able to test it in warm weather yet!! That is good advice re negative people. They really can sap your energy!
I am going to drink my tea (in peace!), then empty & refill the TD. I will empty the DW after the 22mth old has woken because he is snoozing in the kitchen (actually, I may not put the TD on yet either)
Hugs, sticks & spoons available to anyone that needs them.9 -
Thank you all for your kind words, I have decided to be gentle with myself for the time being.
I have lessons planned for tomorrow and enough food until Friday so that's the essentials covered.
I have been and completely sorted the kitchen and wiped down the surfaces, it looks so much better and only took a few minutes so actually feeling much better.10 -
Hi all
Awful nights sleep, work is tricky, both boys have wanted support this week. I have a thumping headache and I need to go to a meeting for my volunteering job.
I have managed to run the cordless vac around and do some laundry. I have also taken the car in and had two new tyres fitted.
I will be glad when DS is delivered to his student house tomorrow and I can start to unwind for my week off.

Huge hugs Dance and asb
Mademoiselle I totally sympathise with you. We've been told by our estate agent that before the house goes on the market we have to streamline, basically get rid of the stuff that is cluttering, and get the place minimalist. Hence the reason we have bought for a storage unit at a 24hr storage place - basically most of our house will end up in there. Then we can market the place. It was supposed to go on the market last year but it has taken us this long to clear, and we are still only half way. I have a junk room to clear as well as a few large corners of piled up things.
I too am finding it hard to do this but can only do so much at a time, then I get overwhelmed. Have had a fortnight off of doing all this and really need to get back into it. I desperately want the house on the market by August at the latest now.Mortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️
