Belling cooker knobs terrible

We bought a belling range-look cooker quite a few years ago. It was at the cheaper end of the spectrum, but not cheap by any means. We have regretted it because the plastic knobs are so flimsy. I have lost count of the number that we have replaced, but it’s probably at least 2-4 per year. I have asked both the seller and Belling if there are better quality ones that we could buy, but have been ignored by both. I don’t think this is a big enough fault to have justified a refund, but it’s very annoying, as I have to do battle with an unhelpful, undertrained call centre to get them replaced, and have often been sent the wrong part, no matter how hard I try to make them grasp the correct part number. I have also tried online spare part sellers, with no joy. Does anyone know who might be able to advise on parts that would fit a Belling even if not officially Belling parts. Oh, and it goes without saying - do not buy Belling!!

Yup - thin plastic and affected by heat and age.Check out eBay for replacements - good chance you'll pick up a set for little money, and perhaps even a nicer style. To buy the 'right' ones from the manufacturers is usually silly money.MIL had this issue with her oven (can't remember the make) a few years back, and we were expected to pay I think it was £35 for a replacement set. I complained quite strongly that they were 'not of satisfactory quality', and they gave them FOC.I'm guessing the problems are due to the thin plastic around the spindle holder part? You could try coating/filling the surrounding void in the new ones with epoxy such as Araldite after roughing up the surfaces first, and this should see them last longer. But is it worth the hassle?!0

What type of spindle does it have? I'd have thought that there are plenty of other knobs available if you don't mind the change of look.1

Yes.Almost certainly standard 'D'-shaped spindle.0
