Just booked a flight to see my mate in USA for New Years... Was £500 rtn, couldn't pass on that offer!

Now the big issue is travel insurance, having had a quick look its a minefield with all this covid stuff amber lists red list who the hell knows what is happening lark.

What is the best policy/ option? Its flight only as stay with my mate, need health stuff in case I fall over drunk etc... Covid side I don't have a clue! I am double jabbed have been since April, want my life back like rest of us and never had covid!

Any advice on who is good atm, will be great and yes I am well aware I may have just wasted money on flights that may never happen. But got to have something to look forward too!

Right now its against FCO advice to visit, and indeed most coming from the UK cannot enter the US at the moment unless they are US citizens.

There are a few options, like Battleface, who will cover you to travel against FCO advice but their prices reflect their rare position. They obviously won't cover you if the current ban on travellers from the UK hasn't been lifted by the time of your trip.

Thank you, I have resolved my panic.... joys of drinking and having bank card to hand.

Virgin have a covid amendment policy, so can re book or name change if worst happens.

Off to buy travel insurance, not worry and have something to look forward too....

Do not forget you will need an ESTA to enter the USA .
