We will return from Mallorca, at the end of July, so the a Green Country. No isolation needed. But, according to Gov.Wales i should book a test through the special portal, they're 88 quid for a test. There's four of us, id rather not! However, since we land in England, could we instead use a English supplier of Day 2 tests?

No, because the test result needs to go directly to NHS  Wales. English tests results will  not be sent to NHS Wales.

Wales is using NHS tests, rather than private tests, because they are processed by NHS laboratories and results are sent directly into NHS Wales’ systems. This helps identify any harmful variants and makes contact tracing easier.

That is assuming the rules are still the same at the end of July. Mallorica is on the green watch list so could be moved up again before then.

On the other hand if lockdown ceases on 19 July -15 July for Wales' next review-  things might all change again.

Did you find out anymore info on this, i'm in a similar predicament.

I called 3 testing providers and they stated that they regularly send tests to Wales and you don't have to use the Gov provider, CTM, (ripp-off) however for Wales/Scot it seems that you should use CTM via the Gov portal buts it's not 100% clear if you're landing in England then heading onwards to Wales.

I tried calling 119 NHS and they didn't know either...

You land in England, so use the English rules. Book whoever you like from the England list. Once you travel into Wales, you then follow the Welsh rules, but you don’t need to rebook your tests.
companies like Randox have test drop off points in Wales, they wouldn’t do so if it wasn’t allowed.

The only problem you may have if your are arriving from an Amber country is that the test result from private providers are not uploaded to NHS Test and protect system that Wales uses for contact tracing so you may experience problems ending your quarantine without them being able to see your results.
