I have a small patio and looking at adding some extra slabs down the side but can I add some extra slabs when the air brick is currently lower than the patio, would it be an issue to do what I'm wanting or is it possible.

Thanks in advance.

I'd say its a bad idea to go above damp course level. But then I'm no expert.

Yes that's what I was thinking but again I'm no expert.

You could go to the side but leave the gravel gap along the wall.  I assume the patio has a gradual fall away from the house.

Never a good idea to go level with, or above the DPC. Building regs require that the DPC is a minimum of 150mm above any paving - Not always possible, so try to aim for t least 75mm clearance. Where even this is not possible there are ways to reduce the risk of damp. See here - https://www.pavingexpert.com/dpc01

The patio is pretty much level with the Brock above the air brick, if there is a gradual fall it isn't noticeable.

Could I leave a gap of 2 or 3 slabs between the air brick and where I put the next slab down.

I'm trying to get the patio and some turf done but I'm on a budget but one option is to redo the patio so it's lower than the air brick but that will require money being spent on it.

Well I'm guessing you don't have damp issues at the moment, so leaving a gap filled with gravel should be ok in practice.

The fall on the patio doesn't need to be noticeable - just enough that water runs away from the house.

I didn't give it a second thought until I saw this, 150cm is a bit of a drop. However, the link you provided is so handy, thank you!

Thanks, I'll look at getting some gravel in that spot.
