I had a very challenging day at work today and my nerves are shot! Too many things not working the way they're supposed to and had to deal with a client that I do not particularly enjoy working with.
Anyway, today was payday so have paid myself my spending money for the fortnight and sent $800 to my investing account. The funds haven't cleared yet so can't buy any stocks today and will have to wait til tomorrow
I'm having a bit of a challenging time with a friendship that I feel has run its course and I'm not really sure what to do about it. I hate confrontation and really don't want to cause a big falling out, but the slow fade wont work as this person knows my routine way too well and I only have so many excuses to avoid the phone calls. Hmm..1 -
So many changes! Welcome back, I look forward to your next adventures.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Hello diary! Funds have cleared in my investment account this morning so I have bought some shares in DLC (don't google that on a work computer lol). If you want to know how I pick stocks - I read absolute rubbish on reddit and just buy what other people are talking about and what I think sounds like it will have decent growth. Lately I've bought mostly Lithium, Cannabis-related Healthcare and Renewable Energy type companies and it's serving me reasonably well. I'm trying to avoid traditional mining companies for moral/ethical reasons but must admit it is v. tempting. I'm now up to a balance of about $10,000 in stocks and around $2,000 of that is growth (most of which is thanks to me investing right at the bottom of the market after the big downturn caused by good old Covid). I also put $30 in my crypto account and invested $10 each in Ethereum, Doge Coin and Shiba Inu. Don't ask me what I'm doing or why because I do not know. I'm just doing it for fun. My crypto portfolio is down 7.81% as of right now as a lot of people seem to be liquidating and it's causing the prices to drop. Again don't ask me why haha.
I am determined to get on board with Crypto and not get left behind. My boss keeps going on about how iT's uNrEgULaTeD and iT's NeVeR gOiNg tO cAtcH oN. So mostly I am doing it just to spite him 😂
Anyway, I've felt a bit rubbish the last few days. Not sure if it's my thyroid wreaking havoc again or mercury in retrograde or what. I just feel really "meh" and am ultra sensitive to things going wrong.
I ended up having to call the people I ordered my fridge through and cancel the order as I ordered it two weeks ago and have heard nothing since then. The interaction I had with the lady on the phone was not unlike the "and then" scene from the movie Dude Where's My Car. She had the exact same accent and was much more aggressive. A link for the uninitiated https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqwzuiSy9y0&ab_channel=Movieclips
It was a little traumatising to say the least.
I've now ordered the same fridge through a local company who actually have it in stock so fingers crossed it can get delivered on the weekend!

Good luck with the fridge delivery.
Love your method of picking stocks and shares

Had another tired day today and not in a good mood. I've been sleeping better than ever but struggle to get out of bed in the morning so have not done any exercise since Monday 😩. I will try and get a blood test over the weekend so I can go to the doctor and see if it's my thyroid levels.
The challenging friendship situation mentioned above has further escalated. (Well at least in my mind it has). And I've really had enough but am not sure what to do about it. I have just been avoiding the texts and phone calls and acting ultra busy but will have to face it eventually. I love a good argument but given my current fragile state, I really don't want to go up against this person. I know that if I mention any issues it will turn into a big back-and-forth and I just don't have it in me to bother with it. So will just act MIA for now.
In better news, tonight I made the most delicious Massaman Beef Curry (using a jarred supermarket curry paste) and it turned out pretty much exactly the same as one I sometimes get from my local thai place! I made it in the pressure cooker and it was soo good. I even made coconut rice to have with it which was a bit of a fail but still tasted nice. I have many talents but cooking rice is not one of them. Definitely need to buy one of those little rice cooker appliance things. Lots of leftovers to eat over the next few days. Will add it to my rotation of weekly meals.2 -
Feeling better today! I've spent my friday night unboxing and setting up my new fridge! I am very much excited to have a full-size fridge and freezer. The apartment is feeling much more complete now with the only things missing being my bedframe and the electric fireplace.
I've vacuumed and mopped the floors and even have my second load of laundry going. I've decided that Friday nights will be my allocated cleaning time. Sounds crazy but I find myself really bored and antsy on friday nights and unable to relax and watch a show or read, so have decided that I'll channel my energy into cleaning instead. Seems to be working well so far.
My best friend is coming for a visit tomorrow so looking forward to that!
I'm so excited and grateful to be back in my own place and having everything all nice and organised. I feel like I'm really getting into cooking lately so it's nice to have a new renovated kitchen to cook in. Must remember to buy some storage containers so I can freeze all the extra meals!2 -
Friday cleaning sounds like a good idea to me - start the weekend with no niggling jobs to do!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Hello! Just caught up on your diary, bit of a rollercoaster there with ex but sounds like it's worked out really well for you. We lived in Aus for about 18months so I think I can guess what city you are in (dont think you specified) and if it's where I think then I am so jealous!
I know what you mean about Fri night antsy-ness. We've recently started doing food shop on Fri night if nothing else on as means we dont have to do it at the weekend! Have a great weekend and I look forward to reading more of your diary :-)Current mortgage (1 Jun 2022): £289,501 - originally £351,999 got to love London sized mortgages!
OP Goal 2022 = 3.75% in OPs: £6,975 / £13,200

Hello @rugbymadfamily !
Thanks for popping in. Hopefully no more rollercoasters here! I think I've been on so many they are making me motion sick 😵 I have never said exactly where I live, god forbid someone I know IRL should ever find this diary haha. Grocery shopping on Friday night is another great idea. I bet the shops are quite on Friday nights.2 -
Well I've had the nicest Saturday! I cleaned the bathroom and shower this morning, did a load of laundry and popped to the shops for some groceries. Had leftovers for lunch and then my friend came around for a few hours and we had the most positive and therapeutic chat! Made homemade pizza for dinner and have put three portions in the freezer to have at a later date.
Anyone following the William Tyrell investigation in Aus? Just crazy. That poor little boy has been failed by everyone who was supposed to care about him. Really hope the police can get it figured out. I can't stop checking the news.1
