I'm so glad it's finally the weekend! The BF and I went to an antiques fair this morning but it was quite boring and there wasn't much there so we ended up leaving after less than an hour and we didn't buy anything  Then we went to the shops as I wanted to get something for my mum for her birthday but it was a bit busy and we have to check in everywhere with our phones due to Covid cases ramping up recently and we ended up leaving quickly without buying anything because we were just sick of it. I'm sad because I used to love shopping and browsing but Covid has really put a dampener on things. Somehow places are even more busy and chaotic than before and it makes no sense.

I haven't heard any news about the apartment being rented yet but perhaps they will have some showings over the weekend and I'll hear something on Monday. I really want to get tenant signed up so I can know how much income I'll have coming in and then I can re-do my budget. I've tried to set my personal/grocery/petrol spending limit at $400 per fortnight but it seems to be not quite enough so I might have to adjust it. I'm sick of trying to stick to an amount that's too small and then guiltily transferring money over from the bills account. I need to re-arrange my budget and the way I use my accounts and get things organised properly to get myself out of the habit of transferring myself extra spending money whenever I feel like it and muddling things up. I'm resisting the urge to online shop over the weekend and will wait to payday before I buy anything else.

In other news, my car has got something wrong with it :s. It's check engine light is on and it's idling really rough. I called two different mechanics but they were both booked out for 2 weeks so will continue to nag the BF to figure out what's wrong with it and fix it if it's something small.

So it turns out my car had nothing wrong with it, it's just that the fuel cap was loose which was allowing air to get into the system. Who would've thought  Nevertheless, the car is booked in for a service next week as it's overdue for one anyway.

I haven't had any applications for the apartment yet but there has been quite a few people view it. The real estate hasn't done their professional photos yet which is highly annoying but if it rents before they do them I suppose I won't have to pay for it. There are some more viewings booked for tomorrow so fingers crossed!

Today was payday and I haven't sorted out my budget or accounts yet but decided to go ahead and transfer $500 to the offset and $200 to my Spaceship Investment.

I had Monday off to work on my assignment but didn't end up getting much done. I'm finding the approach of dedicating whole days to study is absolutely useless and just leads to anxiety and not wanting to do it. So I've taken a new approach and have been squeezing in about an hours' worth at work every morning and this has been a much better method as I seem to have a really short attention span and an hour is about all I can handle.

My daughter is doing her Masters and getting up at 6 every morning to do an hour on it - it's a long slog but she's getting there. I think a whole day would be far too heavy for me and I'd just get a headache, a guilty conscience and a lot of progress on displacement activities!

That's good news on the car and hopeful about the apartment. :)

    Hello diary!

I am having a strange week. On Monday at work I had (what I think was) a reaction to the MSG in the ramen noodles I ate for lunch. I've never felt so strange. It started off with a really tired/groggy feeling that turned into feeling like I was going to pass out/throw up/die all at the same time. My throat, neck, arms, upper back and shoulders had this weird numb feeling and my mouth felt like plastic and tasted like I'd swallowed moisturiser or something. The "passing out" feeling was unlike anything I've ever had before. It's not like when you're sick with a bad stomach bug or flu and get that yucky feeling but know you're about to pass out but you can make it to sit down before you deck. I felt like I was losing consciousness and had no control over it whatsoever. I was so scared that I was going to pass out at my desk and hit the ground hard so I had to go into the bosses office and interrupt his meeting to tell him I felt like I was dying.

Luckily the BF was able to come and get me and I felt a bit better once I got up and walked around a bit. As soon as I sat down or leaned forward slightly it would come back. I took yesterday off work and although it wasn't as bad the feeling would come back intermittently and it's literally the most disgusting feeling ever. I went to work today and was fine but I am SO tired tonight :(

Not much to report in the area of money. I paid the electrician bill and now my bills account is looking dismal again. The real estate lady called this afternoon to say she'd had two applications for the rental unit and is just waiting on reference checks, so I should get a call tomorrow asking me to pick the tenant that I want to go ahead with.

Wow, that was horrible! Let's hope you never get it again. Did you make a note of all the ingredients just in case?

Good to hear there are prospective tenants!

Happy Sunday  I am on annual leave for one week!

We are having a quiet weekend. It's cold and extremely windy in my neck of the woods and our side gate has blown off it's hinges so will need to be repaired at some point  :/

I have just paid the garage door repair bill for the apartment (this is the last bill from all the final work I had done, yay!) and the accounts are looking very sad again (almost empty, payday in 2 days thankfully). In good news, a tenant has signed for the apartment. She is a young lady around the same age as me and is moving here to start her new job as a pharmacist. I am very pleased as she seems like a great fit and her affordability was really good. So now I will finally have some money coming in and it has rented for $280 per week which is what I wanted 😀.

In sad news, we have cancelled our few days away that we had planned as the area we were going to has had increased C0vid cases and they now have a mask mandate when in public and you have to wear one for two weeks after you get back and the BF would really struggle with that with his type of work. I'm not opposed to wearing a mask at all but I will admit that when I have one on I find it really hard to breathe (thanks to dodgy sinuses) and I feel like I can't talk/concentrate and I just don't think we'd enjoy the holiday while having to wear one so we cancelled it. The positive side of this is that the BF has allowed me to use the holiday refund money to order an electric fireplace for the living room. I am so excited as have wanted one for ages and this house severely lacks character so it will be so nice to have a more cozy and decorative vibe and saves us buying a tv cabinet as we will put it under the wall mounted tv 😇It's on backorder until November but I don't mind as long as I get it eventually.

This morning I went and picked up some Tupperware containers that I bought from FB Marketplace (I used cash that I had in my wallet) because I just couldn't help myself, they were pink and I had to buy them. Not sure what I will use them for but I'm sure I'll find something. I spent the rest of this morning working on my assignment and watching one of my study videos. Not sure what I will do now. The BF is playing video games online with his friends and the weather is horrid so won't be going outside.

Great that you've got a tenant for the apartment, it must have lifted a big pressure from your shoulders.

It's a shame about the holiday, but not worth the hassle with the covid issue, plus the joy  you'll get from the fire will last a lot longer than the holiday would... just having the light on for the fire makes it feel so homely.

I wouldn't have been able to resist pink Tupperware either.

Great that you have a tenant AND pink Tupperware! Am missing Australia (though I've only spent about two weeks there :D ). I recently found a key ring of my Mum's sent by Australian friends which is a phial of layered sands with the wonderful outback red in the middle. Nice to have a little bit of it with me, but shame I can't also bring some of the shops I discovered in Sydney!

What a shame about the cancelled holiday. I think the fireplace is a great idea, though. We installed our dream one a few years ago and it's made a huge difference to the whole house because there's a log burner that generates masses of heat. It also looks nice, and it makes home feel a bit more like a holiday. :)

I wish we could have a real fireplace but it just wouldn't be worth installing one here and probably too hard with the layout of the house so I will settle for a fake one and lighting a few candles about the place to get the ambiance 😂. At least with a fake one we can take it to the next house if we ever move 😆

I have worked on my assignment some more this morning and am really struggling to get the last bit done. I am taking a break for now and might try and work on it some more this afternoon or tonight. I've still got 3 days to get it done so I'm trying not to stress myself out. Am living in fear of the next assignment and not sure how I'll manage it, but shall cross that bridge when I get to it. Hopefully this will be the worst of the subjects as I am finding it so difficult and boring (it's to do with economics and legal stuff) and the next ones will be more interesting and manageable. Fingers crossed.

Hello diary! I have finished my first assignment! It was quite difficult and I can't believe it's only worth 15% of my grade 😩. I don't think I did very well on it but we'll have to wait and see. Now I'm free to enjoy the rest of my annual leave and the weather is supposed to be really nice and warm so that's exciting. I have another assignment to do but I'm letting myself off the hook until I'm back at work but might do some if I feel like it.

I think today we will go to the shops as there's not much else to do and I have something that I want to return and we need to go grocery shopping.

Payday was yesterday but I've not yet transferred any money, I think I'll just transfer my $200 for spending money instead of my usual $400 and leave the rest in the bills account and try and get the balance up as I was down to my last couple hundred $. Can't wait for the first lot of rent money to come in! Some time today I might do a proper budget up and re-arrange the accounts. I also need to sort out landlord insurance and change my address for a lot of things which I've been procrastinating.
