Is VAT payable on survey fees

I can’t remember where I read it but I recall reading that VAT is not payable on survey fees such as homebuyers report. Can anyone tell me if this is correct as all quotes I’ve received state +VAT

Depends on whether or not the surveyor is VAT registered.1

Sometimes the price you'll be given is inc VAT.
Sometimes it'll be plus VAT.
But unless the surveyor's not VAT reg because his turnover's below £85k, you're certainly paying VAT...0 -
Most Surveyors used to do valuations and surveys for lenders normally work for big companies that charge VAT.0
