"Glenmaye is a small relay site intended to cover Glenmaye village and surroundings which lie in a valley and so would otherwise have difficulty receiving a TV signal even though the transmitter on Beary Mountain is relatively nearby. The site relays a signal from Beary which is, in turn, fed from Douglas."

An inspired guess as to OP's location ann_droid?

It may or may not be totally useless, one thing it is, with my money saving hat on, is poor value.

Aerials from cpc farnell com are well priced and they do take orders from the public.

I replaced my monster aerial with this much more compact folded one (half the length for a start and better gain). The reference to 5G Filtered refers to the 700MHz notch filter now required to future proof against mobile interference.

    Hi
There only appears to be 1 transmitter on the IOM, and if you are outside that area then you need to point at Dublin or Belfast or even better Good 'ole Blighty.

Hence the pictures and description of aerials with assorted attributes.
Don't even know if the IOM has a Screwfix, or even the actual VAT regs.

I do know a man who fitted, very loosely, a camera to his motorbike, and on a normal Thursday in Douglas went for a jaunt.
The camera showed speeds of 'circa 170 mph' and on returning to start point found an ambulance parked nearby, presumably to be on hand for the next lap.

Interesting that you understand there to be only one transmitter on IOM, ann_droid

The one you mention at Glenmaye  is just a very local blind spot transmitter AFAIK with others,  for example at Ramsey, serving their local areas.

The Douglas transmitter has always been the main transmitter, receiving signal from Winter Hill in Lancashire and transmitting for much of the Island.

My info might just be out of date so perhaps you, ann_droid, could link to the info that tells you otherwise so that it can be clear for the OP?

In case a definitive link is required please see https://www.cura.im/tv-and-radio/television-in-the-isle-of-man/
