My other half and I were both named on the tenancy agreement of a rented property, but are no longer together. I am remaining in the flat and taking on the tenancy by myself. I have to pay a new deposit (partner paid 100% of deposit originally which is being returned). The agents emailed to say just to transfer the deposit into the same bank account that my rent S/O pays to each month (we paid our rent to this account for more than 4 years) and it'll be lodged with DPS.
However, I feel uneasy just transferring a wad of money even though the email is 'proof' that the sum of money is specifically for the tenancy deposit on the named property. I would prefer a proper invoice.
Am I being silly? Am I now just a newer version of my mum who refuses to use anything more digital than a debit card? Is there a better way of doing this?

I've only ever paid a rental deposit or rent by standing order.0

Just because one joint tenant moves out does not end tenancy nor compel remaining person to leave.
BOTH remain liable each for ALL the rent.
Do nothing! No need for any new paperwork!0 -
After the letting agent protects the deposit they will have to give you a statement showing your deposit is registered with a deposit protection scheme (and will includes details like tenancy dates) so that should be enough.0

Why don't you just pay the amount to your ex and keep the deposit in the scheme?0
