What happens when u submitted application for probate

Hi sorry me again, can I ask what happens when solicitors send application off for probate to be granted? Does it go to a registry office also would solicitor post application or do it online thanks

The application can be done either online or via a paper form. If online, you then need to post the original will and any other supporting documentation requested (sometimes death certificate or executor id). It all goes to the probate office who will review the documentation, check that the will is valid, scan the will in so it is available to the public and confirm that arrangements are in place to pay any inheritance tax.Once the Probate Office are happy then they'll issue a grant of probate to the executors (they'll e-mail them initially and then send the actuall probate grants by mail)1

We applied for probate by post in mid April and I got an email acknowledging the application early May. Probate was granted last week. I didn't get an email but the grant arrived by post.
Fairly complicated will but no IHT to be paid.1
