Hi All
I have a 1930s semi that has a large extension on the side and although only 20yrs old I was wanting the whole roof re tiled to match.
It has traditional rosemary tiles which will be expensive but have found a larger modern tile that has a line down the middle to resemble 2 smaller ones.
Used rated and found a roofer who quoted £7200 for original roof only with rosemary tiles or £6200 with the larger tiles.
I then decided to get a quote for the lot approx 100sqm new gutters and bay window flat roof & chimney pointing and a velux.
This was £11500 and have said yes to early August
I did get 2 roofer's and my issue is the 2nd guy has belatedly quoted £8500 without the velux but will be September.
I would happily dismiss the 2nd quote as too cheap but he has done a neighbours roof and made a lovely job.
I realize I am going to have to put my big boys pants on and speak to the 1st roofer but how do I manage the conversation as even allowing for the velux he is over £2000 more expensive and tbh I didn't think £11500 was a bad price. However as ever I am on a budget & that £2500 extra which is borrowed could be put to better use?
