Requirements for account statements by energy companies
I have just been informed by Bulb that energy companies are no longer required to provide yearly statements of accounts. Is this true? I've been with them for 1 year and wanted to check up on my account. I'm on a prepayment meter and although I have some receipts, I haven't got them all.
The person I spoke to at Bulb was helpful and said they will send me a statement as I'd been with them for a year, but there was no requirement by law to do so. This seems like an unhelpful policy and one which leaves customers in a bad position and I wonder what forumites think?

What do you mean by yearly statements? Bulb, like many suppliers, provides statements by email and online for consumers to view/print.
The ts and cs suggest that Bulb normally charges for paper statements.0 -
The original requirement for an annual statement was removed a while ago, along with the requirement to read the meter every 2 years, and replaced with the requirement to ensure that every customer is billed accurately at least once every 12 months.1
