Universal Credit and adult child at home - does his contribution to bills count as income

I have recently been awarded Universal Credit. My adult son (age 22) still lives at home and gives me £200 a month to cover his contribution to bill payments. Does this count as income? Do I need to declare it somewhere and will it be taken off my benefit?

Thanks in advance.

If you're claiming for help with the rent in with your UC then there will be a non dependant deduction of £75.53 per month, unless you're claiming a disability benefit such as PIP daily living or DLA mid/high rate care and then there won't be any deductions at all. See link. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/help/non-dependants

You only have to declare that your adult son is living in your household, by declaring him under "Other people who live with you".
As Poppy says above, this may cause a deduction from your UC if you are receiving help with rent.
You do not need to declare any money your son contributes towards bills. This is not treated as income and has no affect on your benefits.
