Hello, I recently learned that my next door neighbours, who live in a rented flat, which is a big bigger than mine, are paying the same amount of rent as me.Do you think I could ask my landlord for a rent reduction based on this fact or I would need to look further on what's on the market? Thanks

..you can always ask, and the landlord can always refuse....in which case what would you be prepared to do about it?

Your landlord has the same right to ask for a rent increase. Do you want to prompt that?2

It's not the same landlord.0

Different landlords have different ways of setting and raising rents. Some landlords only raise the rent when they get a new tenant so someone who has been living in a property for a long time might have a lower rent than someone who moved in quite recently. It is the same as any business deal. You get a discount for quantity.

Maybe the landlords quite possibly know each other and your neighbours rent might go up?
