TAP Portugal flights

Hi just wanted to know if anyone else is waiting for a refund from TAP Portugal for flights. My flight was cancelled last October and I requested a refund which they agreed to but 9 months later I am still waiting. When I contact them they just keep telling me it’s in progress and I will have to wait till the end of the process. Seems to me 9 months is a long time or is this normal

    I had flights booked with TAP for April 2020 and only just got the refund last month. They were booked through an agency though, so I don't know whether TAP actually paid the money back sooner and the agency just took their time to pass it on to me.
  • We were supposed to fly with them March 2020, booked through Expedia though the credit card bill showed TAP as being the payee. I got my refund in December. I only hassled Expedia by email in November which may or may not have expedited the refund. (Incidentally was very unimpressed with TAP last March - first they were trying to get us upgrade to business class and then they changed our flight to the day before we were supposed to fly without telling us - this was just before the first lockdown! I think this flight was cancelled anyway. Apparently TAP stands for Take Another Plane.)
  • TAP were owned by the Portuguese government a few years back but were privatised with the new owners saying they had capital to invest, unlike the Portuguese government.  By the sounds of things it doesn't sound like they've invested in customer service.

    I had my flight back from Madeira to London via Lisbon cancelled in April, I used a local Travel Agent as TAP wouldn’t allow me to book extra luggage online (I originally flew out with BA). When I asked for a refund (about a month later) the problems started, TAP told me that the agency hadn’t applied for the refund, the agency sent me a copy of the refund application form that they sent, the same day as the cancellation was announced. The agency told me they wouldn’t refund me as TAP hadn’t refunded them, I made a complaint via the TAP website, which told me the matter had been dealt with (really???)  so I printed off all of the emails that the agency and TAP sent me, and took the whole lot to Barclays, within a few days my overpriced tickets (£645 for 2 people one way) were refunded by the bank, i now have to wait and see whether the agency opposes the payout or charges me any admin fees.
    As for TAP, I wouldn’t touch them with a very long barge pole, check out their reviews on Trust Pilot, not very good.
