Hi,
Please could anyone help me pick a combi drill, just for simple DIY at home.
I was thinking either Makita or DeWalt, would the below be any good?
£129.98 - DeWalt DCD709P1T 18V XR Cordless Brushless Compact Combi Drill 1 x 5.0Ah
£189.98 - Makita 18V LXT Brushless Combi Drill & Accessory Kit 1 x 5.0Ah
I'd need a drill set so the second one seemed good, plus there's a £25 off code I could use. Not sure if £164.98 is a good price?
If not can anyone recommend alternatives?
Thank you!

You don't really need a 5.0Ah battery for home DIY use, although it's nice to have. I'd be looking for set that comes with a pair of batteries. Have a look on Screwfix to see if they have any offers at the moment. Quite often you can get a half decent combi drill with a pair of 2.0 or 3.0 Ah batteries for around £100 from the likes of Makita, Dewalt or the Bosch professional (blue) range.
The Erbauer range is also quite good for a DIYer, eg this: https://www.screwfix.com/p/erbauer-eid18-li-ecd18-li-2-18v-2-0ah-li-ion-ext-brushless-cordless-twin-pack/542fv1 -
I've a Bosch Blue and it's done a sterling job; I like it so much I've bought a second one because I can't be arsed changing between bits and drills. There are quite often offers on sites like Screwfix.0

The drill bit set is worth £20. It's not something you should consider.
I agree that two smaller batteries is the way to go.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Cheers all. Would this be better?
£149.99 - DeWalt DCD778M2T-SFGB 18v 2 x 4.0ah li-ion XR brushless cordless combi drill
With maybe this?
£22.99 - DeWalt straight shank combination drill bit set 100 pieces

You say that you want this 'for simple DIY'. Something like this might be sufficient:

The impact driver is a big help.
Do you have an SDS drill already? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Brushless drills always cost a bit more so as you'll not be using it a great deal I'd have thought a non-brushless one would be OK. The brushless means the battery lasts longer but if you have two batteries you should be OK as you can always have a charged battery ready if the first one goes flat.
The kind of money you are looking at spending seems more than I'd imagine you'd need to pay for DIY use. I'd be looking at something around £1000 -
Perhaps something like this
