Clutch Failed After 9 Months

Hi all. Hoping for some advice here. 9 months ago I bought a car from an independent motor trader. The selling point for me was the fact they said they’d just fitted a new clutch. Today I’ve found out that the clutch has failed and needs replacing, with only 5000 miles on it. I know that after 6 months I’m out of luck in terms of the seller legally having to repair it, but is there any kind of right I have in order to get anything back whatsoever from the seller? Thank you.

..after 9 months I would say your chances are less than "0", particularly as a clutch is considered a "wear" item.
You could probably trash a clutch in a couple of hours or less if your really tried....not saying you have, just stating what a dealer may reply?

You need to define what has 'failed'.
It's feasible the dealer did fit new clutch plates 5000 miles ago, but something else has now failed and it's just bad luck.

Just heard back. Apparently the master cylinder has failed causing the clutch to burn out. They’ve confirmed it does seem less than a year old so at least I wasn’t lied to. Guess I’ll just have to take the hit and pay for both the clutch and the cylinder.
