Bank allowed UberEats take payment from old card?

I purchased some food from UberEats and only realised after my purchase that it had my old bank card details in their system and since had new card delivered. I wasnt able to change card details in the app. Anyway I was surprised when my order got delivered and my bank charged. This doesn't seem right? What if a scammer gets hold of my account?

There are services such as Visa Account Updater that effectively replace old card numbers with new ones, allowing transactions like this to proceed even when the merchant only has the old details.
