Knward, this is all very sad - she's clearly a person with significant issues.
You don't seem concerned about anyone else - potentially more malevolent - coming in?!
And you only need a temporary solution - you are hoping to move soon? If the LL doesn't provide a window lock, surely you can cobble up something yourself?
Does the window open outwards? If so, tie a cord to the handle and to something internal - even part of the locking mechanism in the surround frame. It won't be pretty, but does it have to be for a temp measure?
And call up Social Services if you haven't already done so. (Not sure what good it'll do, but at least you are informing folk about what is surely a vulnerable person.)
Impressive that they can climb a ladder and gain entry through a window when blind drunk. Awesome skills.

use your phone and video it next time it happens, certainly keep a diary of exact dates and times of when it happens. If the woman is nice when sober you could show her the video and maybe mildly shame her into not doing it again (if she’s that much of an alcoholic she may not even realise what she is doing). Ps make sure your ( or your landlords) insurance is up to date, if she falls from the roof there might be a claim…

Sadly I'm not surprised that the Police didn't treat this as serious: we're expected to be more permissive of the actions of "neighbours" I've found.  Neighbour abuse is the new domestic abuse - under reported and rarely convicted.

I'm so glad you're safe and the lady is getting help.
  • I second the message of @arrows123 I can imagine this could be very distressing for you, but you're handling it with compassion and care. Hope your neighbour gets the help she needs.

I'd definitely address the issue with the window. If someone who's off her face can manage to get in, imagine how easy it would be for a sober burglar.

    Yeah.

So, where do you live, Arrows?
