The BPA on the TV stage

This is hosted by the Telegraph and in this video they feature the CEO of the British Parking Association, called Andrew Pester.

Apart from the waffle, he mentions "EFFECTIVE PARKING" ... REMEMBER THAT


Moving on, when asked about private parking operators, Pester says "the key here is between the landowner and the parking operator" AND ... according to Pester, the BPA are working very hard with the landowner to see what they want to achieve ?

Moving on, Pester said "we have been raising standards for the last 50 years" ????

Pester goes on to say that Sir Greg Knight has introduced the new code of practice and that Murdock in Scotland has looked at this ?


Note what Pester says about Hospital parking ?

Moving on, Pester says that the BPA are the leading authority in the parking sector ??
STOP YOU THERE FOLKS ..... why does the BPA have so many scammers as members ?

Moving on ... Pester says they are driving standards forwards ?   HE MEANS THE BPA SCAMMERS ? 


What a car crash interview for Pester, really does remind me of the car crash interview of Patrick Troy on BBC Watchdog ...... 

The question to the BPA is why do you allow scammers to be members. The BPA have never answered that ?

There is never any point to these TV programmes unless there is someone who understands the parking industry, and can ask the questions TV presenters never think to ask.

Question number one, how is the former head of the BPA doing, having been convicted of sex offences and is now on the sex offenders register because he committed sex offences whilst head of the BPA?

Question number two, how is committing sex offences whilst being the head of the BPA driving standards up, or even forwards?

Question number three, why have MPs across all parties referred to the unregulated private parking companies that you represent as rogues, scammers, and bloodsuckers?

YUP, the BPA would not have known they had a sexual predator as their CEO. BUT, they must now know that their current CEO is a failure

Guess they have to take what they can get, very few people would take on a job where wages are paid from subscribing known scammers.    This is called the BPA ?

One of the things i would like to see would be for those who have access to sensitive data, such as the registered keeper data from the DVLA to have full enhanced CRB/DBS checks.

 As it is the system is wide open to abuse, and it wouldn't surprise me if some characters involved in PPC land have some  history.

But this is the same as the police, social services, hospitals, etc., etc., etc.  That is why corruption is ever present.  The only vetting worth its salt is positive vetting,  but it s time consuming and expensive.

What an insipid interview. The interviewer never once challenged any of the statements made by Pester. 

If I have trouble getting to sleep tonight, I'll watch that again, guaranteed zzzzs in minutes!

Not challenging statements made by the BPA reminds me of the lead up to the POFA 2012, Schedule 4, when the BPA were taken to be some sort of regulator or expert and their wrong figures and reasoning was allowed to steer the DFT’s impact assessment for replacing clamping with ‘keeper liability’.

And then, despite promises to review the impact after 2 years, the impact of handing a known rogue clamping industry that diabolical power was never reviewed. 

And no-one at the time thought to consider why PPCs put ticket ‘value’ up to 3 figures despite the fact that’s double the sum of a Local Authority parking penalty charge.  As the BPA raced to cement £100 into their CoP as if that was fair and reasonable. 

 All of it was swallowed without question and we are where we are today, as a result of that farce and the damage of the Supreme Court, who also took the BPA CoP to be something it isn’t.

Something is wrong when intelligent people don’t question what a non independent rep for a known rogue industry says.
