Hi if your gut is saying its an issue, which it is, I'd pull out.
if you work from home you may want to relocate away from London and get more for your money and peace of mind.
We made a similar judgement call a while ago thnking it would be OK and regretted it ,as once you get over the thrill of the move and decorating etc it will start to wind you up!
Good luck0 -
How long will you consider it for?!Ally_E. said:Yes, we are considering asking for a discount.
Are you sure you even want to go through with it at all now, even if they do agree to a discount?
All this issues re. building site, views, future worries you have etc will all still be there whatever the price you pay; you'll just be a wee bit richer that's all.
It doesn't don't sound like this is much about the price you'll pay for the house to be honest...Feb 2008, 20year lifetime tracker with "Sproggit and Sylvester"... 0.14% + base for 2 years, then 0.99% + base for life of mortgage...base was 5.5% in 2008...but not for long. We didn't ask for the discount as we decided it was worth it anyway and how having lived here for 1.5 years it's definitely true.
The development didn't progress and they withdrew the planning application. Doesn't mean they won't come back to it at some point, but we heard through the grape vine the 2 neighbours behind us who were looking to do the development had a falling out.4 -
This really isn't a matter for a surveyor.Ally_E. said:We are yet to instruct a RICS surveyor to survey the house, due to lack of clarity about the chain, we were only in position to order that late last week. Will ask them to analyse this if we decide to proceed. Thank you.
Only you can decide if the property is what you want, meets your needs, and how significant any negative factors are to you.1 -

I might be able to beat that, my new house is next to a cemetery. I did a lot of research beforehand trying to figure out if it might make it difficult to sell later on, or affect the resale value. In all honesty with hindsight I don't know why I bothered, the house and location is absolutely perfect for us, the neighbours are dead quiet, and I know they're not going to build anything next door for at least 100 years. If a future buyer is creeped out by it, it'll most likely be my kids that have to deal with it, as I'll be in the cemetery myself by then.AnotherJoe said:
my last house literally backed on to school fields, it was a good situation. Sure, noisy as break times but that ended on schedle (unlike say a neighbours party), weekends no neighbours backing on to my garden or overlooking it. Absolutely quiet except on school sports day and the once a year school summer fete. I suspect they will really like it.
