Holidaying abroad for two months - correspondence address for statements

Options
Hi,

I'd like to know if I'm going abroad for holidays for a two months, can I ask the statements to be sent to an alternative correspondence address (my friend's place for safety reasons), without causing a 'break' in my credit history? Will the banks report to the credit referencing agencies my home address or my correspondence address during that period?

My banks are Natwest (do not offer Online Statements), LTSB and Halifax. Since I have credit cards with Natwest and LTSB - the statements will need to be sent, I don't seem to be able to stop them (or can I)?

Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!!

Why don't you ask the royal mail to forward your mail to your friend's address for the two months?
Yes there is a charge for doing so, but it won't affect your bank at all as they won't know the difference so it shouldn't affect your credit rating as they won't know you've 'moved'

Thanks Sallyrsm. Most of the envelopes from these banks have a TNT stamp on them, not Royal Mail's 1st or 2nd. Are they still delivered by Royal Mail and hence will be effectively redelivered by Royal Mail to my friend's address?

Also out of personal interest, if I do not go via the Redirection service route, but go through the bank route (and inform them that it is correspondence address not home address that I want to change)- what wil actually happen?

TNT use Royal Mail's services to get the mail to your door.

So while I have mail that says TNT on it my postman, employed by Royal Mail, delivers it and it has to be sorted so he can deliver it.

Thanks for your kind replies. It really enlightened me. I shall consider the redirection service as one of my options.

Sorry for being a little persistent, but I'm still interested in knowing - will the correspondence address be reflected on the credit report and will it affect the credit rating, as in disrupting the 'stability' that one has out of living at a address for a long period of time?

How long are you planning to live in your present address? If it's for a long time- years rather than months - then don't worry. As on the electoral roll you will have had one address for that period of time.

In the last year I've had 4 addresses but due to the temporary nature of 2 of them according to the electoral roll I've only had 2 addresses. I've had no credit problems i.e. my bank was happy to give me a much larger overdraft (which I didn't use) and I was able to open 2 other bank accounts with no problems.

    Thanks Olly300.

I'm renting at a flat, and the contract is renewable on a yearly basis. Have been here for a year now, if nothing goes wrong I could well be living here for up to 4 or 5 years.

I usually travel abroad quite often (family's abroad), hence the reluctance to use Royal Mail's service as it can turn out to be rather expensive.

Glad to know you have no problems with credit despite moving frequently. May I know does the 2 temporary addresses show up in your credit report? Also when you're filling in details about "Previous Addresses", do you include details about the 2 addresses that were never listed in the electoral roll? Or do you omit them and just list those that were in the electoral roll?

    Thanks! :)
