Ooh, I like that. I might give it serious consideration when I redo our bathroom.

Ooh, I like that. I might give it serious consideration when I redo our bathroom. If you are paying someone to do it, it will be expensive !That said, if you can slap a bit of plaster on the wall, Tadelakt isn't too difficult - I've done a few walls here with Venetian plaster which isn't that much different. Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.2 -
I've done a little plastering for small areas; I'd definitely have a go myself. If it looks awful I can just say I was after the rustic look.1

itsanne said:Wall boards have come on a lot. They don't have to look like a gym changing room or cheap option. While there aren't as many choices as with tiles, there's a good range of options - have a look at Rearo if you're considering wall panels: https://rearo.co.uk/bathrooms/laminate-wall-panels/(We used Rearo when redoing the bathroom and ensuite about ten years ago. At that time they offered by far the best selection, but I would imagine others also have a good range now. Ten years of daily use later they still look new.)

Tadelakt. I have seen some exquisite tadelakt in private homes in Morocco but it is extremely time-consuming to get a perfectly smooth glossy sheen. I have also seen perfectly functional tadelakt that looks unattractive.

And once you use a harsh chemical on it - bleach, for example - it's stuffed.Apart from that, it has absolutely nothing going for it1

It might work in a house where the Med scheme is obvious throughout, but in virtually every British home, it'll just look like ordinary plaster that someone forgot to paint.Rosa, have you checked out the wallboards in a good showroom? I'm personally a bit fed up having to bleach my grout lines (ooh-er, missus) every few weeks (no-one else in the house bovvers...), so was very tempted after checking them out.Still drawn to heavily-textured tiles, tho' - I want to feel my shower. I want it to leave an impression (Matron!)1
