O/S Daily Tuesday 22 June 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone off to work stupid stupid early, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and porridge whilst on here. DS1 on annual leave. DS2 settled and happy.
Cloudy start again but air doesn't feel quite as cold as yesterday - will peg a line of washing out in the hope it might dry.
Dinner last night was salad, ham, scotch egg, pork pie (menfolk), hot new potatoes, coleslaw, potato salad. Tonight will be gammon, egg and chips as hairdresser is coming tonight as she needed to change from the booked appointment next week.
Yesterday work was manic - and I don't expect anything different today.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc, I hope that work eases for you.I've been awake for hours, my mind is busy ruminating over lots of things and making mental lists which I keep changing! Now I've decided that I need more packing tape so will go out shortly to get some. A chap is coming this morning to pack up DM's books 😱 I bought cardboard boxes but forgot the tape.Yesterday I found more stuff which needs sifting, scanning, throwing away or all three. I also had to phone and nudge the EA and the auction house though felt bad later as the gentleman from the AH had a nasty fall last week so things have been delayed there for a good reason.Right, need to shower and get going. Thoughts to our missing and poorlies. Happy Tuesday to all.12

Morning All
Lovely and sunny this morning but quite chilly, washing can go out when it's finished in the machine.
I had my second jag on Sunday and felt fine until about 9pm when I felt decidedly ropey so had a day at home feeling sorry for myself yesterday. Lovely neighbour brought me some ham and lentil soup - not something I would normally have but it was lovely and brought me back to life! Still very tired as I've not slept very well but going to work - too much to do to stay off again. I did do some work from home yesterday so don't feel too bad. We finish on Thursday at lunchtime so not long to go.
Hope the poorlies are feeling better, thinking of Marie as always. How is your mouth dp1? Sounds very painful. Hope Mr fix-it is ok Nanny, that's a lot of travelling for you to do.
You'll notice a big difference with the books gone Gers. Have you a pen and paper at your bedside to write down your lists?
Happy Tuesday, take care. XX12 -
Good morning and thanks for starting NMLC.It's a sunny start here - yesterday was cold and grey all day, I had to get a warmer coat out of the landing cupboard when I went to meet friends - I hadn't expected to need this coat till about October! You're still busy Gers, but there's no point in hanging about.Sorry to read that you're not feeling well Camelot, hope you pick up as the day goes on.Hope you're feeling better DP1.We had a really good chat at D*bbies yesterday morning, it was so nice. The place was busy, they were running out of tables at one point, one of the staff was counting empty tables! I've gone there for years to meet up with friends, and I think a lot of others do the same, no doubt some people actually go to buy plants.I was yawning after lunch yesterday after a run of bad nights, but slept better last night, so don't feel like death warmed up today. Yesterday I was having difficulty staying awake when I sat down in the late afternoon but I didn't want to fall asleep during the day, in case it stopped me sleeping last night. Sleep and I have a difficult relationship! Not much planned for today, hope everyone has a good day, take care folks11

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I hope today is less manic for you. We have blue sky and sun and, as still no rain appeared yesterday, I had to water all the pots at the back. They were beyond dry and all in danger of keeling over. Since I went on a water meter I begrudge having to use it to water the garden. Where's the rain when you need it? I am quite envious of you further south hogging it all!!
I really enjoyed my trip to Sainsbobs yesterday! Although I have popped into various sm for the odd couple of things throughout all the madness it's the first time in 16 months I have gone in and pushed a trolley round!! It was very quiet and there have been no major movearounds in my absence so I found everything (and more!) on my list.
Today I am gallivanting again. DD rang to see if I fancied a trip to Boundary Mill today. There is nothing in particular she is wanting but a few new outlets have opened since we were last there and in need of a browse! I am hoping M & S might have some bargains in the underwear section as that's all I am needing really. Everything had 50% off, including sale items, before Christmas and we spent far more than we intended to on all the bargains!
I'm getting collected at the start of the school run so must get myself organised. Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, poorly loved ones, and woeful. GERS your head sounds to be spinning. NAN I am thinking of you both, I remember well how tiring and stressful it is going to the endless round of appointments. Take care one and all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -

Morning! So cold this morning that I've given in and put the heating on. Apparently tomorrow will be sunny..ohhhkaaay....I believe you....My car cannot be fixed here, no one has the parts according to the guy so I've phoned and booked it into a garage in wales next week because they have different suppliers. Let's hope it lasts until then. I was despondent after that so did absolutely nothing. Which means everything has been shifted to today instead. Form filling in a go go today then. And sewing. Some Italian. I made four baked potatoes yesterday so that's ready for tonight as well as well as the coronation chicken. When the weather is like this I just want to hide on the sofa, read a book and drink tea. I suppose I should make some kind of effort...Hester , poor thing! I was angry on his behalf and also full of sympathy for him that someone should just discard him because he was diagnosed with something and joy at his no doubt massive relief he wouldn't be discarded again. Nanny, I feel for you, it's just intense isn't it, always about to go or waiting to go and then waiting to come back, not enough time to relax and live normally before it all starts again. Mr Fixit is in my empathetic thoughts. Ruby, I wouldn't bother with subtle, just outright ask. Glad the barbecue went well. Scarelt, I do occasionally buy plants in dobbies but it's so expensive! Their cakes and scones though are lovely
glad it went well..TA, you're welcome to it if you want it, honest! Gers, won't be much longer, I do admire you for making sure your mums things will be utilised. Well you lovely lot, take care, stay safe, stay cuddled in blankets if you can....bloody weather, grrrr!!!

You'll notice a big difference with the books gone Gers. Have you a pen and paper at your bedside to write down your lists? No, I don't! Think it's because I'm ever hopeful that I may remember it all later. And mostly don't. 😢I've been out and back, I was sitting in my car waiting for the shop to open. They had the nice strong packing tape so got two rolls and am now at home having my first coffee.Bella - I'm thinking of you and your deadline. Take care. At least the only deadline I have is the one I make.TA - enjoy your gallivanting!Taff - what a pain about your car. I think there's a shortage of all sorts of spares etc, it's being blamed on Brexit and the stuck ship though I can't imagine that parts for your car were on there.Hester - your DD is one in a million.Mono - I read on another thread that the old lady whose stuff you were clearing out has died, that's such a shame. The husband must be in an awful state. Hugs to you for helping.Yesterday the gardener sent me through photos of the work she's done, what a delight it was to see my lovely garden looking so good again. When I went up the other week it was so overgrown and neglected it made me even sadder. In only two days she's cleared away so much and even exposed the long hidden brickwork surround of the grass. Now I can see my plants again. There's more to be done but now I'm looking forward to spending time in it again.

Hi everyone,
We had an adventure yesterday, we went to Milton Keynes and went in John Lewis, Lakeland TK Maxx, M &S and finally IKEA. It felt really strange but it wasn't busy. I got a new purse which was what I went for because I didn't want to buy one online. I have very specific criteria for a purse. I'm very pleased with the one I got, a Radley one, massively reduced in he sale and it is much slimmer than my old one even with all my loyalty cards in it. I don't think we'll be visiting shops on a regular basis though apart from food shops, neither of us really enjoyed it and we used to love just wandering around looking at things. We found the Covid restrictions at IKEA very confusing, Disney like queueing but very badly signposted especially as there was nobody there to queue.
Gers, it sounds as if you have a real find in your gardener. Bella, good luck with the packing, at least it won't drag on for weeks. Taff, sorry about the car, I hope you get it sorted son. Nanny, is it today you're off to hospital, I hope it all goes well.10 -
Morning :)a much nicer day today, the sun is back - I'll be watering my plants shortly. Thanks for the start nmlc- hope work is less busy.Gers sounds like the garden lady is working wonders, and you'll soon be able to relax in a lovely spot after all your hard work clearing the apartment.Taff, as I said yesterday, we've waited weeks for our car part - hope you get fixed up.Camelot hope you're back to full strength soon.TA, I've got Boundary mill envy, not been there for years.Snoozer, sounds like your purse was a good find.Bella hope the move goes ok, ditto HHScarlet, I'm another with a poor sleep patternNanny & Mr Fixit- hugs, also dp1 hope your mouth is improving.Tea tonight is a chicken tray bake- I like doing them, no effort apart from the chopping of veg!I did quite a lot of housework yesterday with it being cold, so apart from a bit of tidying & ironing today that's it- I shall finish my book and go out for another walk this afternoon.Take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
