Hey Guys
I hope you can help me out a little, I just bought a new TV ( A Sony Bravia 1080p LCD ) and am slowly getting the hang of all the stuff I need to do to get the most out of it, however I hooked up my PS2 with the Sony Component cables and although it looks better now than it did with the original out of the box cables it looks very pixelated and isn't as sharp as i imagined( Especially when i'm playing GT4 ).
My question is how do I get it to look more HD ( I know most people will say " get a PS3 or a 360 " but I dont want / need one yet, when I have it hooked up my TV says its displaying in 480i, I know I can get it to display better / sharper and I bought the component cables specifically cos I wanted it to look as good as I possible could.
Any help would be appreciated ( by the way my PS2 is the slimline model, not sure if thats important !! )

really your asking a lot of the ps2.
the onboard dvd player on consoles was never great.
you m,ay want ot consider a decent quality dvd player if you dont want to go full high def HD DVD/blue ray0 -
I know I need a better DVD player, but my question was about the picture quality of the games0

really the resolution is what it is.
are you runnnig games in 60hz if available?
remember the ps3/360(i think for the ps3) upscale the rez on older games so they look a bit better0 -

Most people will say that because its true, hardware of that age aint going to output a hd signal is it.0 -
I got a new TV a while back and you're right..the PS2 does look pretty dodgy...
There are only really a couple of things I know you can do to improve the picture, and neither of them are nice...
The first is to send the TV back and get a smaller version (believe it or not, this is what I did) - you'll then, relatively, be sat further away and will notice pixelation/aliasing effects less.
The other option is to get a 360 instead...which is something I can't recommend highly enough you do, quite aside from your current problem

I believe the PS2 can output up to that resolution, but many games were not natively coded that high. However, this product claims to upscale the games to make them look good on TV's such as yours. Might be worth a go.
NOTE: I have never used or seen this product and have no idea whether it works. I have no affiliation whatsoever with the company and found it using a Google search for your question.

You need to upgrade to an ST or Amiga then. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0
