Hi,
Does anyone know if there's an average price for standard legal fees when remortgaging please?
Same house, no name change, no extra borrowing.
I'm just wondering which one it's best to take?
Thanks.

@Deleted_User Thanks for your reply. Are they an online firm who can work anywhere? Mine is for a residential mortgage.0

We were lazy and opted for the free legals.0

Cashback every time. Free legals are sh*t more often than not. And in this case you save money as well.
It's not the free legals solicitor's fault, they get paid peanuts per case.1 -

I think we would probably use the free legals service again when we next remortgage. Assuming we remortgage rather than product switch.0 -
free legals are fine most of the time but I dont use them on the off chance the mortgage doesnt get offered and we have to go to a different lender. just a nuisance getting the client to complete all the paperwork again. If i use 1 firm who are independant of the lender then they just deal with whatever mortgage offer hits their desk.3

@cornish42 In your place I would go for the £500 cashback. From experience, you can get fixed-price remo solicitors cheaper than that, a higher probability (no guarantee) of things not being messed up/delayed into SVR and a conveyancer that will deal with your case even if you have to change lenders.

Thanks for the advice everyone, it's much appreciated. I'll see what I can find with a fixed-price remortgage solicitor.0

I opted for free legal on re-mortgage since I could not find anything much cheaper that £500. Prices I was being quoted was £475 and £500 so was no point. Mine all gone through but didn't receive anything from legal team except mortgage offer letter and deed e-mail to sign. Should I be getting copy of anything else? such as search report or valuation report? This was with Nationwide by the way.0

we used the free legals for our remortgage, had to pay a bit extra for dealing with a third party for leasehold Garage, but was smooth, all done via an online portal and answered stuff within 1-2 working days
Personal preference
but i wouldn't use the free service if you are anything but vanilla for your sanity"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
