Disneyworld/Universal Studios

Can anyone please help me?
Short version- i bought and paid in full for a holiday to Orlando to Disney world and Universal, i got the park tickets at £1000+ from Attraction Tickets Orlando, this was 2019 pre pandemic. Our hols were obviously pushed back five times and here we are in 2021 two years since we paid in full and the tickets have expired.
attraction tickets said we need to pay another £190 to update the tickets due to inflation.
Is that true?
We didn't go due to a worldwide pandemic!! We paid our full price and didn't receive the service we paid for and are now expected to pay almost £200 each just for Disneyworld.
Do these companies not have insurance for things like these?
We had holiday insurance that also expired but Corona virus didnt exist (to this extent) back then!

Any advice/help is most welcome .

- very stressed out-
Jo.

It is not the providers job to insure you. Do you have insurance for things like these?

If you had purchased the tickets as part of a package holiday or direct with Disney then things would be different, but as you purchased the tickets separately you have no comeback in that respect. Also as you purchased the tickets from a company based in Florida, then the relevant consumer law would be that applicable in the state of Florida, US consumer protections are much weaker than those in the UK and Europe.

Unfortunately your choice is largely pay the additional amount, or lose the entire amount.

IMO £190 isn’t much on top of what’s already been paid for the holiday to keep the tickets active, how long would they then be valid for?

The golden rule is to have insurance from the moment you book to when you finish your holiday - I'd still speak to the company as they may be able to help, but if your policy has lapsed then perhaps not.
Unfortunately while it's annoying, it is a very (very!) small amount to lose in light of the pandemic and a holiday; several posters here have been out thousands with nothing to show for it.
Personally I think you'll need to pay and suck it up, the pandemic isn't their fault and they can't be held to pay the extra for you.

Where are you staying on the holiday? I went a few years ago and may have some tips to save the money you lost.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

The tickets were £1250 alone, its absolutely ridiculous money i know but we've always wanted to go. I guess we'll have to pay. The extra money should extend the tickets for about 3 months

We had insurance from Day 1, literally by the day we booked however it expired last year and also didn't cover Corona virus as it wasn't a global pandemic then (broke out 3 months after we paid everything in full)
We will pay, and already our visas have expired and need ro repurchase, need to repurchase insurance as we lost that and cant get a straight reply from the one that lapsed. Our holiday was never "cancelled" they just kept rebooking and rebooking so they didn't have to refund us. We've had to pay extra for the inflation to the flights/hotel already around the third pushback.

    Thanks everyone for the replies.
I am stressed as I am not well off. This isn't something i just pay, i saved and saved hard for this trip, it's a treat.
We did everything right, had insurance from day 1 (literally!)
We've already topped up and topped up flights/hotel etc
USA travel insurance that is lost was ridiculously expensive too. The company never give us a straight answer and send the link to their covid help page that doesn't answer our request to transfer the dates.
As youre all aware diseny/universal tickets are about £1000PP already.
I know its easy to say just pay it. I know we'll have no other option but I just needed advice as it just seems so unfair, more and more money being paid out.
If we don't renew now and our next date (late September is also pushed back- then let's only guess how much more we'll be asked to pay)
