This Ssontong dash cam is in my company car, set up to record on a loop, recording 5 minute videos until the SD card is full then it records back over the top of old videos. I witnessed an accident this morning so brought the SD card in to see if I had the footage.
On opening my computer files I can see the videos listed, stating 5 minute intervals. However, when I open each video, the clips are, in fact, only 3 minutes long.
On opening my computer files I can see the videos listed, stating 5 minute intervals. However, when I open each video, the clips are, in fact, only 3 minutes long.
In addition, when there are 25 seconds remaining of each clip, the video appears to freeze - the counter continues but the picture has frozen.
Some of the videos are also stating they are corrupt.
There have been two occasions now where I could have had some important dash cam footage for evidence of incidents, but both times the file is either corrupt or the incident happened in the missing 25 seconds, very frustrating!!
Does anyone have any idea how I can resolve this or should I just invest in a better dash cam?!

probably an inferior sd card, if it is camera related then it is a new camera. Reformat the card run the cam for 5 mins then close the recorder if possible and repeat the test on yout pc.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Memory cars are rated by class for their read/write speeds and need to be fast enough to store the video files as they come in. For example my HD dashcam needs class 10. What type is your SD card? You will see rating printed on the card as a number inside a letter C.0

I'd actually plug the SD card into a computer and copy a large file onto it. I wonder if the write speed drops after a given length of time or after a given amount of data is transferred.
Could explain the problem. However, I would expact the dashcam's firmware to let you know there was a fault.
Temptation is to replace both.

I would not expact it! I also would not expect it. I would expect it to not put up an error becuase errors scare peopel and it sounds cheap so better just hope no one notices!
