Hi
I would like to know if anyone has sucessfully reclaimed working from Home Tax Refund of £6.00 per week.  I know of others, who have made this claim only to find out  they owe HMRC for various things.   ie. Tax that was not paid on Bonds from previous years.  This does not seem right as its due to a pandemic why we are working form home circumstances beyond our control as the Government put us in lockdown.  I am waiting on a response from HMRC and worried as I dont know what they will pull out the bag, I know I paid my taxes on PAYE.

It is not a tax refund of £6.00 per week, it is tax relief on £6.00 per week, which for most people is £1.20 per week.

Additionally if people have not paid their taxes correctly in previous years then they should have to pay those taxes, just as those of us who pay our taxes correctly every year have to pay ours.

I received a discount of about £60 (20% of 6*52) on my tax bill.
    I did it via self-assesment.
There should be no issue with getting this.

That's completely unrelated to tax owed for other things e.g. bonds.

There is a diminimis where HMRC will not pursue payment but if you request your records to be reviewed ( such as applying for a repayment) then that amount will be included.

You should know whether you have any untaxed sources of income that should have been taxed and it is your responsibility to notify HMRC accordingly.

HMRC do not need to pull things put of a bag.

Exactly this. If you've paid what you owe, they don't have a bag to pull anything out of.
