Looking for houses, spotted a bungalow - pros/cons?

I'm currently looking for a 4+ bed house in central belt of Scotland. Wasn't initially considering bungalows, but have spotted a couple that appears to have the space we're after. We're a family of 4, we're in our '40s, so no pressing need to avoid stairs. What are the pros/cons I should be weighing up with a bungalow versus a house?

I was under the impression bungalows can be a bit niche, harder sell etc - is that fair?
More expensive to heat with no warmth rising to floor above?
Maintenance differences? I presume roof/guttering will be cheaper to repair!

Any other considerations I should be aware of?

I am 64 and have just moved to a bungalow.  Some bungalows have a lot of land surrounding them and command quite high prices, I saw a lot that surprised me during my house hunting. Apparently attractive to developers.

Heating wise as long as you have double glazing and the roof insulated I can't see that bills would be any different?

Personally I don't like single level living, and really miss having an 'upstairs',  but I am future proofing for when stairs would be difficult.

We almost ended up with a bungalow in our last move (vendor didn't accept offer) - we're similar age to you and it just so happened there was a large bungalow that ticked our boxes. Didn't bother us in the slightest that it was a bungalow. Only downside I could think of was that I like to sleep with the bedroom window open, but I wouldn't be comfortable doing that on the ground floor!

In my experience, age of property and boiler is what makes the biggest difference to your heating bill!
