Hi all, bit of a long story, please bear with!
Nov 2019 booked for July 2020 holiday in Fuerteventura. Obvs lockdown hit March 2020, the Mrs & I were keenly watching updates as both classed as vulnerable.
1st lockdown was lifted by departure date but we didn't want to go as still didn't think it was safe. Called TTH to ask what our options were. (I have have to state now that everytime you call TTH after sales you will be on hold for a minimum of 45 mins).
Was told that as Government do not advise against travel airfare (Ryanair) cannot be refunded (£960) but Hotel cost (£1027) can be rebooked for 2021 at a cost of £346 (open dated). Was happy with that but never got new confirmation documents through from TTH despite calling them weekly for about 3 months, (45min wait time).
At this point I'd written off the cost of 2020 so paying £346 for a weeks all inclusive hotel seemed a good deal to me. So now I contacted Ryanair.
All it took was a £65pp rebooking fee. Add on seats and luggage (total £680) and assuming 2020 was written off I had a 2021 holiday AI in the Canaries for a family of 4 for around a grand, bargain!
Now into 2021, early June. Very intriguing email from TTH. Your refund is now ready to be processed. Please send bank details.
Being wary of many scams I called them, (waiting time 1hr 30mins)! It was true! Their record keeping is that bad I was offered a refund of £2325.48. (original booking plus rebooking cost for hotel for 2021).
I'm just short now of the fees I paid to Ryanair myself of £624. Wondering how on Earth I try to explain all this to them!

Was this a package booking (ATOL certificate) or separate flights and hotel?
if it was the former, and the hotel was not available, then you were entitled to a full refund from TTH, including the flights.
if it was not a package, and the flights operated, then you have no right to a refund for them, as Ryanair are not responsible for the non-availability of the hotel. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
From reading their post it looks it was a package but that everything was available but they didn't want to go as they were vulnerable. Teletext agreed to allow the hotel to be moved to next year but the flights couldn't be refunded as were still flying. They paid to change the flights with Ryanair themselves to match the new accomodation dates though. In which case they are now fortunate to get the accomodation refunded now which they seem to be aware of.However best you can hope for from Ryanair is to make another change to the flights to other dates.0
