I have paid £250.00 for a return flight from Glasgow to the Island of Jura. I can no longer use it because I am Manchester based and travel has been banned. What are my options for getting a refund?

What type of ticket did you buy- flexible, non refundable?

If the flight goes ahead then you would not be due a refund unless it was a flexible/ refundable ticket.

They may allow you to move the date as a goodwill gesture.

    Thank you, could advice
  • I think your first problem is that the island of Jura doesn’t even have an airport on it.

Who did you book this “flight” with?

You fly to Islay and get a bus or taxi to Jura by short ferry ride.
  • Must be with Ryanair then. Glasgow to Jura (Islay).

    OR Loganair
  • I think they also do Edinburgh to Isle of Wight.

If the enforcement is anything like the cross border one at the tail end of / start of this year you won't have much to worry about as it was virtually non-existent.

I flew from Edinburgh to Birmingham and back before Christmas which was theoretically prohibited but no one was asking any questions. I also made the same journey by Train in December as well - no problems.

It's all hot air and completely unenforceable - go and enjoy your Holiday.

If the point of origin for this flight is Glasgow, how exactly do they propose to enforce this travel ban? As far as the airline is concerned, you are a UK national with a valid ticket to fly to Jura. How are they supposed to establish where you are based other than your home address as stated on the booking form? You could well have been in Glasgow for 10 days before departure.
Short of roadblocks northbound on the M6 at Gretna, I don't see how this is workable?
