If it looks like soil is gritty and raining down in a continuous manner could be debris from an ants nest, like what you sometimes find when you move a terracotta plant pot. Clean out using something like a credit card to get into the narrow gap,spray with ant killer and seal with a suitable sealant. Is there a gutter above that window and is it clear,decomposing leaf litter is a good food source for ants etc.0

I have cleaned it out,. There is guttering above but it is new.
