Lateral Flow test centre closed

Options
Noticed this morning when driving past - the building which housed the LF test centre has shutters down and no signs.

Since able to get the LF kits from employers, chemist, apply online etc - there was no purpose in LF centres. Plus in the past couple of months on the few times I drove past the building, there were the same cars, must have been the staff and volunteers. Probably bored in the very few turning up.

Interested to know if other LF test centres have closed. If it’s from today - the contracts have ended or someone thought it’s a silly thing to continue to have LF centres open.

Though may have kept them open in areas with high cases.

Yup one in Liverpool city centre shut yesterday permanently.

But like you say you can pick up tests at many places. I have about 5 as they're sent home by the school.

The ones in our area are still open, although the majority are Monday to Friday only and so wouldn't be open today,,,,,

The one near us closed at Easter - which was a pain cos I could walk there and had to drive to get to the next nearest.  But now we have the test at home ones so I use those instead

However, I don't think you would be able to use the test at home ones to show a negative result if they are needed as proof for anywhere, could you?  I don't know what proof the test events requiring a negative test to attend are asking for

Not sure what you mean by yellow signs - are they road directions (I don't drive) ?
I get a weekly e-mail from the council telling me where I can go for the various tests, but I've never needed to make use of them.

Yeah, they are meaning the temporary direction signs that direct people to the most appropriate route to the vaccine/testing centres.

They had a similar sign to this on the pavement, which also served as a road sign

There have never been any lateral flow test centres near me, there were three PCR centres and there are now two, with the drive through centre only operating three days a week, but the walk in centre operating full time. There has been a location operating seven days a week handing out the LFT kits and allowing people to register their test there should they need to for some obscure reason, but they have never done any testing themselves and you are not actually allowed to use the test inside the building.

One of my friends got tested end of April at a walk in centre. It was out in the open! No marquees etc. She didn't ask any of the staff or volunteers how do they coped with rain, strong winds and snow (we had snow for 9 days in Jan) etc. She doesn't know many who live near her - she moved there in Nov 2019. She works 10 miles from where she lives. Her colleagues live the near to work or within 5 miles the opposite side to her so went to different centres if needed.
