I use non-bio for towels & bedding and colour for other stuff except wool & silk, I use a 'proper' liquid for that.
I always tend to put in more powder than required, not even sure how much I should put in, I think that could be a reason why some itch.
I generally use an old vending machine coffee cup, almost full.

I use liquid rather than powder but that sounds a lot.
What is the recommendation on the packaging?

Remember, don't shoot the messenger but "Which?" says that tests have found no evidence that biological powders/liquids cause skin problems when used for laundry.   I have a sensitive skin, e.g. can't use deodorants, have to wear gloves when using cleaning up detergents, can't use adhesive dressings etc but I have used biological powders/liquids probably for 30 years and have never had a reaction to them when used in a washing machine.

Waaaaaay too much. When we had our water softener installed the company gave us a pack of their washing powder designed for water softeners. It has a 'doser' so you can't tip too much in. I don't bother using the special powder, but I use the doser still with Aerial powder.  I would guess that it's dosing about a tablespoon full. If I've got a particuarly grubby wash, I'll shake in a little more.
