If he thinks we're no longer in Europe, which continent are we now in?The short answer - We are in Europe, we are not in the European Union.

The only reason that we shouldn't be in the tournament is because we appear to have lost the ability to play.0

I can understand why your sister doesn't get on with your Dad.0 -
How does the OP's Dad cope with Eurovision, which includes competitors such as Israel, Russia and Australia?0

As others have said we are still part of the continent of Europe, but more importantly as far as the tournament is concerned the English Football Association is a member of UEFA who are the competition organisers.0

Grumpy_chap said:How does the OP's Dad cope with Eurovision, which includes competitors such as Israel, Russia and Australia? You make a mistake in assuming that Eurovision has anything much to do with Europe. America, Russia and the U.K. (as the US’s proxy) have always been the main actors.
The main purpose of the Eurovision Consortium was the US’s determination to prevent the USSR from taking over Germany’s position as the lead nation for broadcast technology post WW2 and keeping it - and yes, this was once a very serious concern for them, esp when colour systems came on the horizon. As their ally with actual presence in Region Two, we got to be the ones to see it happened.
The name itself was chosen as a snappier alternative to “Region Two-O-Vision”, which is is more accurate and covers a much wider area than just Europe - incl the Near and Middle East, much of Africa and quite a bit of the former Soviet Union.
However, he may also have problems with road signs as all post-Worboys signage was specifically designed to be compatible with European signage and for Maps, the traditional British way is to put East at the top. North is again the historic European choice.0
