Purpose of EA?

  • I'm not sure what the EA has to do with the issue here anyway. OP offered to move out to suit the buyer, and now has changed their mind. Buyer is not happy. What has the EA got to do with it?

Having read back, I think it's the OP being unreasonable. Don't offer to go into temporary accommodation if you have no intention of actually doing that. From the start I have offered to go into storage, and I would if required to seal my sale. I said it because I would do that. I agree @NameUnavailable, it doesn't seem to be relevant to the EA.

Used an online EA first house we sold. Paid £500 (not PB!)

This time, thought will use a highstreet EA as figured in this crazy market they'd earn their fees.

Honestly, they never can get ahold of vendor's EA, solicitors or anyone!! Have to keep pushing them for updates. This is a chain of only 3 people!

Already decided that if sale falls through I will just do it through an online agency again as they are definitely not earning their £5,400 commission!

And I don't rate them as 'bad', just not worth the massive fees.

If I'm going to be chasing up and down the chain then I'd like to pay myself that 5k lol
  • I think one of the biggest advantages of an estate agent used to be their ability to market a property and have a set of buyers who are interested and waiting to go.
However in this new world of social media and the internet that advantage is fast eroding.
I think if I was selling my house now I’d probably have a go at selling it myself and save the fee - although I am retired and can spend the time on it so maybe it’s not the best approach for a busy working person 😀

Some of you are only picking up on half the story. The purchaser said they would only wait extra month. 12 weeks is standard so extra month be mid July. If it extended beyond this we said temp accommodation if something in the pipeline.

It may be that English is not your first language but it's quite hard to fully understand your posts.  People aren't deliberately missing the point, it's just quite difficult to understand
