Barclaycard refund out of the blue

This morning I received a letter from Barclaycard regarding the credit card I had with them from approx 2016-2019.
They closed my account after poor management on my part. I spent the majority of that time in a bit of a financial mess. I’m glad to say I was
able to sort everything out and have run my finances impeccably since late 2019.
Their letter states that they have looked at how they historically charged fees, and that my financial position may have been adversely affected by the charging of their fees (it most certainly was).
What I am wondering, if there is an acceptance of liability on their part, does anyone think I would have any success in getting them to remove the numerous missed/late payment markers on my credit file?
Thanks in advance.

No. It's just an adjustment of previous charges under TCF. There's no acceptance of liability and no change to your credit files.0

What I am wondering, if there is an acceptance of liability on their part,What liability would you be referring to?does anyone think I would have any success in getting them to remove the numerous missed/late payment markers on my credit file? That is factual information that is unlikely to be much, if any, different from the charges refunded. i.e. did you pay late? yes you did. The level of charges does not change that. Same with missing payments.

The wording of the letter infers some liability….
”We believe you may have been adversely affected by the charging of these fees”
Absolutely right. I was in a right pickle at the time struggling to keep up with payments. The charges applied made it even harder for me to make the following months payment.0 -

The wording of the letter infers some liability….The wording seems clear. You have been adversely affected by the charging of those fees which is why they are repaying some money to you now.

However, you were referring to missed payments or late payments. It would require very significant monthly fees for it to have an impact on a monthly payments. You don't say what the charges were. So, its difficult for us to say. Perhaps give us an indication of the typical charges you paid?
If you were late in paying or missed the payments, would the fact the charges were lower change that? In some cases, it could. In most it would not.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
