Octopus doesn't have an official android app. It is basically just the website with an icon on your phone to click to get to it. It does have a native ios app.

If you want real time information from your smart meter, then I would recommend the Hildebrand SMETS2 IHD/CAD and Bright App. Hildebrand is a registered DCC user so, with your permission, it is able to connect their IHD to your HAN via the DCC.

The only Hildebrand app that I can find is "OPUS energy" - which can't be Octopus

its the BRIGHT app. (owned by Hildebrand Technology Ltd) Its not owned or affiliated with octopus. But you can link it to your smart meter and get your usage data. It is usually up to date to the nearest last hour. Whereas octopus updates the 30min data once a day.

Ok I have it up and running
    It is incorrect
It shows that we are using over 4 times the amount that is shown on the actual display
It reckons that we are using £117 gas alone per month
In fact we use under £40 combined gas and electric
Does it "settle down" and become more accurate?

It uses the tariff information that has been sent to your ESME and GSME by your supplier. Check the tariff information.

As always it is better to look at Kwh usage and not monetary figures on these things.
  • Its OK - it was set to display kwh rather than cost

We are using less than a £ per day combined!
