This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning folks.Well, the photographer came on time, took the photos and the video walk-through and was gone in 40 minutes. Now there's only two more tasks to be done before the flat can go on the market, apart from clearing out yet more stuff including the large number of books. I phoned the big oxfam book shop here and was delighted to find that they are accepting books again, another problem solved. After lunch I really did very little. There was some official paperwork to deal with and I retrieved a few bits and pieces from their hiding places. I was asleep before the football match started.Today I think Alan is coming to help with more clearing out and DM's friend is coming to have a look through the books to see if he wants any of them. It'll be an easier day as there's no deadline to meet.My thoughts are with all our poorlies. Happy Saturday to all.14

Good morning all, Gers thank you for the new thread, you have done so well clearing your DM's flat, I hope that you will be able to relax back home very soon.
Not much happening here, the hot weather was lovely, but has zapped what energy I had and I am getting further and further behind with house and garden work. I had a great telephone consultation with my lovely Immunology Prof, it is early days, but so far 40-50% of those with my condition tested have managed to make anti-bodies to the Covid vaccines (we rarely make any antibodies to any vaccines). I am going to join the study ongoing, but have to overcome my phobia of cut/injured fingers in order to do the finger p r i c k tests - eeek!
Apologies for the lack of individual mentions, when brain fog improves I will try and do better, but read of folks joys/trials/tribulations each day and am with you in spirit.
Take care, hugs and spoons available as needed. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)12 -
Good Morning All
No sunshine today, it's overcast and dull. No washing this morning, I'll change the bed tomorrow.
Busy day at work again - dp1 we finish this Thursday at 1pm (not that I'm on the countdown or anything!) - but we had the leaver's presentations, the sun shone and the children did us proud. Sad that the only parents allowed in were the ones of the children getting the major awards but it has all been filmed for an assembly to be shown this week.
Bit of excitement yesterday - one of the children found a package of 'weed' in the playground, said his Dad and Uncle used that kind of stuff and it was bad! The police came to pick it up!
Glad all went well with the Estate Agent Gers, I'm sure the flat will be snapped up very quickly.
My super duper expanding (expensive) hosepipe gave up the ghost last night so will take it back and see if I can get it replaced, says it has a 3 year guarantee but it's only lasted just over a year. Allotment to visit and a bit of shopping to do then I'll start of the housework. Some of the mountain of paperwork has been done including taxing the car which is thankfully only £20 a year - a bonus of driving a go-kart!
Hope you're all well and have a happy Saturday. Take care. XX13 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS for starting us off. Slowly but surely you are getting to the end of the clearing.
A lovely start and still no rain. Hard to believe but I was actually envious of all that rain falling on Wembley last night! We are forecast light rain for tomorrow but we need heavy rain before it penetrates the dried up lawns and gardens.
I am just killing time before heading for the first bus into town. I wish we had one earlier than 8.45 on a Saturday but hey ho at least we still have a bus. I still haven't got beyond the shops in the bus station area and I have told myself today is the day to wander further along and see what shops are still with us or not still with us.
I had a nice visit from DD and youngest DGD yesterday when they came to drop off my meds. Exciting week for DGD (once the Sats are out of the way!) She's in the last year before big school and it's always been a trip to Paris for the leavers but obviously that's not an option this year so their treat is Alton Towers, hostel overnights and Cadbury's World on the way back. She says that's better than Paris!
Well better get moving, have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, poorly loved ones and the worried and woeful. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Good morning
Gers I have read most days and am amazed at your strength to continue, wishing you some relaxation soon.Just finished a night shift - now in bed, back in tonight as was put on 2 extra 12hr shifts for the football.Ds2 still the same. Dd1 been referred to rheumatologist as they think her swollen joints may be related to the psoriasis and the sarcoidosis. Ds1 settled and ok.
I didn’t get the job I applied for, went to pieces in the interview. Need to get feedback and try to improve. I seem to have a mental block when 1 said person is on the interview panel.
hugs to anyone that wants/needs one. Take care.14 -
Morning everyone
Well yesterdays visit to the dentist wasn't pleasant, but I didn't feel as bad afterwards as I expected to - just really tired from the 6 injections! Had a good night's sleep, which I also didn't expect. My mouth feels sore this morning but not too bad - and I have a bruise of the dentist's fingerprint on my chin!
Nothing planned for today, though I might go along and have coffee with mam and dad. I have a Tesco delivery this afternoon and ironing to do at some point.
It's quite dull here this morning - DD in Nuremberg is still enjoying temperatures in the 30s. She's discovered they have a lot of open air swimming pools so she's going to swim and sunbathe today. Apparently it was still hot when she walked home at 2 this morning!
Well i'd better get moving - hope everyone has a good day

Hi everyone,
We are back from our quick trip away. We arrived on Wednesday afternoon in temperatures of 28 degrees and drove home yesterday in torrential rain! Thursday was misty and overcast but perfect for walking so we walked to Sheringham, had lunch and then returned along the coast path. We did about 8 miles which is the most I have walked since before covid so I was a bit stiff.
I slept like a log most of the night, I didn't hear or feel Steve come to bed and apparently he came downstairs in the early hours without disturbing me. Usually I'm a light sleeper.
Not a lot planned today apart from a bit of gentle housework and some sewing.
I hope everyone is as well as can be expected. Gers, don't feel bad about being preoccupied by your own affairs at the moment, it's perfectly understandable.14 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Gers and hugs to all those in need.
Hugs Gers it's hard work for you.
Cool here and overcast but not currently raining, it was our wedding anniversary yesterday so we've ordered a fish and chips takeaway from a nearby pub, Steve suggested going there for a meal but having looked at the menu the fish and chips is the only thing Steve would eat. I
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.14 -
Good morning all and happy Anniversary for yesterday Hester; hope you enjoy the fish and chips.
We went out for a pub lunch yesterday and when we came back - 2 hours later - I couldn't drive in the top of the road as it was coned off because of flooding. Luckily I can get round via a back route but we are in a small close that has a slight dip where it joins the flooded road and I only just made it through there and onto the drive! This time the problem was the drains not being able to cope with the amount of rain and we spent the next couple of hours checking from an upstairs window until the water started to subside. Guess I'll have to keep an emergency pair of wellies in the car soon!
Anyway, today we are being treated to a pre Father's Day meal at DD's so will look forward to that. I've made a pavlova to take for pudding so just need to fill that later.
I have no other plans for the day other than watching the rugby so enjoy your day everyone.12 -
Morning all
Dull and overcast here and meant to be like it all day, yesterday it poured with rain all day and I got soaked taking the dogs out in the morning, I came home and had to put my trousers in the TD to dry them off I then had a coffee and went to collect the shopping and just as the girl bought it out the most torrential rain came down so we were both soaked to the skin, I came home and had a hot shower and got my pyjamas on and decided I was not going out again !! DD took them for an evening walk but managed to miss the showers.
We have an Iceland delivery coming this morning, as tomorrow is fathers day I have invited all four nephews and my sister and partner and mum over for a bbq so I hope the weather holds I have ordered burgers sausages and chicken pieces as well as salads and new potatoes, my sister will bring more salads and mum is on pudding, we wanted to do something nice for the boys on the first Fathers day without their dad so I hope the rain keeps off.
Will wizz through and do the housework today then get the dogs out for a good long walk, tomorrow will be prepping salads etc and giving the garden a tidy.
Camelot I bet someone was gutted having lost that
Have good days all xx11
