Indesit saying dishwasher fault not fire hazard

I have a indisit dish washer which is 5 years old. Somehow a slight pinprick hole has appeared in the main compartment. Which has then the water has tracked underneath and water has dripped onto a internal plug. Which has caused some arcing
Indesit has attended and said this is not a fire hazard, which I disagree with if I hadn't had mcb protection but an older fuse wire fuse board this could have been nasty.
The engineer has disconnected several parts internally so he must has been concerned about a hazard.
I also don't think a 5year old machine should rust and have a pin !!!!!! hole so soon!
The machine has a 10 year part garentee, but you'd have to dismantle the the whole thing to change where the leak is.
I don't have insurance as I've always seen these as a con.
Do I have any consumer protection or rights?

Here's a link to what Citizens Advice says about the Consumer Rights Act 2015 : https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/about-us/our-work/citizens-advice-consumer-work/the-consumer-rights-act-2015/
My own dishwasher is 14 years old, used every single day and is still going strong, so I do think they should last longer than five years.
If the parts are guaranteed for 10 years and a part has broken, then they should either repair or replace parts, no matter how awkward or difficult it may be. If they have to dismantle the machine, then so be it.
You certainly do have Consumer Rights, as per the link above. You can also phone Citizens Advice. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. As its parts only then the labour charge could be quite high if they have to "dismantle the the whole thing to change where the leak is."0

I'd just expect a dishwasher to not fail within 10.years or deemed unrepairable.0

I had this once on a commercial D/W, it’s the salt spilled when filling the salt compartment, took me ages to locate the leak, found a pin sized hole in the cabinet, might be that that’s done the same in yours, mind you, they were carp dishwashers, not sure about index’s it ones1

That should’ve been indesit, not index, ( stupid predictive text)0

Did you repair the hole?0

I was a white goods repair man for 13 years, we never changed tubs in dishwashers, they weren't available as spares. No they shouldn't go wrong in 5 years but things don't always do what they should do. The one time I came across this fault I drilled out the hole in the tub and put a screw in it with a waterproof washer, seemed to do the trick.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.2

Depending on exactly when you bought it then it may fall under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 but the big consideration here is that even if you can prove that the hole is a manufacturing fault and not the case that you've caused the hole then they are entitled to refund the item less the use already received.
The better companies depreciate on a straight line over 6 years for white hoods so at 5 years old device would be a 16% refund. Others look at the secondhand value of a similar machine were there no defects... my guess is that 5 year old indeset machines don't sell for much on eBay.
To prove your claim the retailer is entitled to ask that you provide evidence, this is normally in the form of an engineers report on the cause of the problem, cost of fixing etc. If the report supports you then you can add its cost to your claim. If it says its likely to be user damage or its fair wear and tear etc then its your cost to carry.0 -
I don't see what fire hazard has to do with this? You can't use it with a hole in it, surely? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Its not a fire hazard, if in doubt ask the installer
The washer & screw (although it sounds like a weather spoons pub) works wellChoose Stabila !0
