Hi, I’m travelling to Portugal in July, we can use the lateral flow test now to enter so can I just go to a government COVID test centre and do it there for free or do I have to pay for a private test?

"You should not use the NHS testing service to get a test in order to facilitate your travel to another country. You should arrange to take a private test. Make sure you have a NAAT or an antigen test that meets the requirements. Check your test result identifies the type of test taken and gives your name, date of birth, the date and time the sample was collected and the date of the result."
and from the NHS site https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing/get-tested-for-coronavirus/
"If you're travelling abroad, you may need to get a test before you travel. You need to pay for a test privately and should not get a free test from the NHS."
you will find media articles relating to passengers denied boarding as they tried to use an NHS test.

The NHS test result does not have all the required information for travelling.1
