IHT Reference Number

My Mum has recently died and we are going through the process of Probate and Inheritance tax. I have rarely seen a more complicated process. forms and so much duplication. We are claiming under IHT 436 for transfer of unused residence nil rate band from my Dad's death before Mum. However it asks for his IHT reference number and I cannot find it anywhere. I have his probate and net assets but not the number. How can I get that number? I am not certain if the bank will have kept it due to the time period. Thanks for anyone's help and advise Graham

If there was no IHT to pay then you won’t have a number - does it not say ‘if known’ or something like that?
I just put in ‘n/a’ and they haven’t come back to me on it.0 -
All the estate went across to Mum so that would mean I guess that there was no IHT to pay unless I have that wrong. His estate net was over £400,000 though0
