British Gas non payment of FITS payments

Despite various attempts to contact British Gas and 2 submissions of my FIT readings I have not received a penny from them since September 2020.

I wonder if they are so lax when it comes to cutting peoples energy supply if they are late with payment. Is there some kind of ombudsman I can contact to get the idiots moving? I am owed over £1000.

Submit a formal complaint by snail mail and get a free Certificate of Posting.

Go to the Ombudsman upon receipt of a deadlock letter or after eight weeks if they don't send one.

The same is happening to me. They sent a cheque for £158 in early july for readings in early June. when I presented the cheque it got stopped by British Gas. I contacted them 3 times on the phone and they said that this is because they need my bank details for future payments?? I did this but why stop the cheque. They still have not paid despite further calls and complaints made online. This is stealing as far as I am concerned. They have made no mention as to the reasons - just "oh I see - I will authorise the payemnt now" but nothing is forthcoming. There is obviously an issue or are they just palying the system and keeping cash in the bank??
