Creating a Residents Committee to Manage New Build Estate

Approximately 8 months ago I moved into my new house, a new build. The developer is now preparing to leave the estate and its time to plan to hand over responsibility of the management of the estate to the residence of the estate. Only problem is that we don't have any experience of this. Can anyone point me to somewhere with some info? I've tried doing a general Google search but it comes up with conflicting information and I'm not sure where to turn.
The development is made up of home owners, shared ownership and social housing of approximately 115 homes and it looks like the SO and SH is being charged and managed differently to the home owners.
So, can anyone provide any advice?

Hi Kate, i asked the same question last week but got no responses. I have got the articles of association for the Residents Management Company from companies house online (free) which is slightly more enlightening but still trying to work out the rest!

First question would be: Does the developer want to hand it to the residents? Most developers sell the management companies on to investment firms...0
